The new patient health history form serves two key purposes. Building a Foundation for Success – The Phases of Chiropractic Treatment

Just as building a house, fixing a car or any other similar type of heavily involved process requires you to follow a specific sequence of events, in order, to ensure the finished product is as safe, reliable and efficient as possible, so too does your body. When you experience an injury or illness that hinders your body’s functioning capabilities, it must go through specific phases of treatment in order to properly repair and correct itself. Outlined below are details about the three phases of chiropractic care.

1. Providing Relief

When a patient comes to us in pain, our first priority is eliminating that pain. Some patients in this phase require fairly aggressive treatment and must visit the office two to three times per week for anywhere between one to three months. Required treatment frequency varies based on your specific issues.

2. Correcting and Restoring

Once we have stabilized your pain we move on to correcting the underlying issues and promoting full recovery and healing. Most patients in the correcting and restoring phase can expect to visit our office once to twice a week for anywhere between six months to two years, depending on their issues.

3. Wellness Care

After you’ve recovered from your injury and have regained full function we begin working towards minimizing or eliminating the risk for future injury and promoting overall better health to prevent further health issues. Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

Visiting Our Office

1. Required Forms

The first thing you’ll need to do when you visit is fill out your new patient form. You can find the form on this page and fill it out prior to your appointment or you can fill it out when you get to the office for your first appointment, whichever is easier for you.

2. Consultation

You will then have a consultation with one of our doctors. Dr. Michael Gallagher, Dr. Jennifer Gallagher, Dr. David Moody, and Dr. Kevin Boyd are all passionate about chiropractic wellness care and our patient’s results, and will listen to your issues and provide guidance regarding treatment options and how best to move forward to address your issues.

3. Examination

Once you’ve discussed your issues with one of our doctors they will then perform an examination, which includes things like gauging flexibility and reflex reactions. They also perform an array of standard orthopedic, postural, physical and neurological tests.

4. X-Ray Studies

X-rays, if necessary, will be discussed during your consultation and examination. Not all patients who visit us require X-rays to determine appropriate treatment, but it may help with identifying serious spinal conditions and misalignments.

5. Report of Findings

After your consultation, examination and any diagnostics that were performed, your doctor will provide a thorough and detailed report of their findings. They will help you understand your treatment options, how frequently you’ll need to visit and what your treatment may cost. They will also provide their professional recommendations, including whether you may need to consult with a different specialist or if there are any specific wellness programs or lifestyle changes that may positively impact your issues and wellness.

6. Treatment

Once you’ve gone through the initial examination process we will schedule a time for your first treatment appointment. The type of appointment is based on our findings and may include adjustment, physical therapy or soft tissue massages.

7. Wellness Programs

Wellness programs are an essential component of many patients’ treatment regimens and include lifestyle changes, stretches or exercises that will compliment your in-office treatment and are intended to promote overall wellness, reduce the frequency of sickness and injury and improve your overall quality of life. Depending on your unique issues this may entail using ice or heat when you get home or it could be more in-depth diet and exercise changes.
